Let our teachers take the prominent role today!

 

 On September 8th, the “Herald the CPC 20th National Congress, Cultivate Our Roots, Iron Our Soul and Develop Young People” sessions were presided over respectively by the university leaders of CPC Committee and Administration celebrating the nation’s 38th Teachers’ Day. The sessions aimed to promote noble teacher ethics, keep firmly in mind the mission of people development, gather forces to foster the holistic growth of socialist builders and successors who are competent in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and laboring qualities.

 President Hu Shejun and Vice President Zhang Shimei attended the session for academic leaders. Deans, discipline leaders and heads of administrative departments participated. Under the sessional theme of elevating internalization construction, the participants had extensive exchanges and discussions on such issues of common interest as development planning, talent induction and education, discipline construction and landmark output. After hearing the participants’ opinions and suggestions, President Hu pointed out that the schools should combine the theme of the Teachers Day with that of Faculty and Staff Code of Ethics Month, exhibiting our faculty members love for CPC and the country, fostering virtue and education, self-confidence and self-strengthening.

 Vice President Zhang Shimei expounded the Ten Codes of Professional Behavior of University and College Teachers in the New Era and The Code of Academic Ethics of Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology (Revised), clarifying the core contents and objectives of teacher ethics, urging all of us to practise the norms of teacher ethics, cultivate the foundation of teacher ethics, and herald the victorious opening of the 20th CPC Congress through practical actions.

 CPC Committee Secretary Huang Shengcheng had a cordial conversation with members of the democratic parties and some young and middle-aged teachers. Centering on the theme of teacher ethics consolidation led by CPC work, they exchanged views on the positive role played by members of the democratic parties and non-CPC experts in various aspects and work. Huang affirmed everyones role as leaders in teaching and research, and encouraged everyone to bear in mind the General Secretarys expectations of teachers, carry out the fundamental task of cultivating talents for CPC and the country, and become the Four-Haves Excellent Teachers (ideology, ) and the guides of students in their growth and career development, making contributions as the young force of the new era to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Executive Vice President Fu Huanchang, colleagues in teaching management and units held an in-depth discussion on deepening the reform of talents development mode. Deputy CPC Committee Secretary and Vice President Hu Sihu, had a session with and representatives of administrative departments and services staff on serving teachers and students with love and dedication, Deputy CPC Committee Secretary and Vice President Xiao Hai with guiding counselor and class tutor representatives on the Three-Holistic People Development, and Vice President Zhang Shimei with representatives of young backbone teachers and PhD faculty on young teachers professional development.

 These sessions are a traditional thematic event for the celebration of Teachers Day and the promotion of democratic governance through sub-theme discussions so as to listen to what our faculty and staff have to say and turn their suggestions to the better cause of the university, thus calling on all the university community to persist in the fundamental task of moral enhancement and people development for the CPC and the country, with a strong sense of ownership, and to scale new heights by observing lofty code of ethics.
