On the afternoons of September 14 and 15, the University CPC Committee Secretary Huang Shengcheng and President Hu Shejun delivered the First Lectures on Ideology and Politics in the Academic Hall for Autumn 2022 freshmen. They introduced the spirit of the Chinese nation, including the spirit of the great founding of CPC, of combating the epidemic and of scientists as well as the achievements from the practices, with the aim to help the new comers to get off to a good start. President Hu Shejun lectured on “Cultivate Our Roots, Iron Our Soul, Foster Young People, Develop Careers and Make Contributions in the Greater Bay Area”, in which he emphasized that the fundamental mission of our university is to cultivate talents, thus he encouraged all students to bear in mind the CPC guidelines and actively shoulder the great mission of achieving the national renewal of the nation; in addition, President Hu focused on the university strategy of serving the Greater Bay Area and developing young people. In “My University life starts at GZIST”, President Hu introduced the university 20-year history and its distinctive management and services, involving all the faculty and students to actively participate in the reform of application-oriented talent training system and the practice of innovation and entrepreneurship as well as enhancing our love of and contribution to our university..
Both the Secretary’s and the President’s lectures are important measures and conscious acts for strengthening and improving ideological and political work under the new situation. In order to present excellent “First Lectures”, Secretary Huang and President Hu prepared the lectures together with teachers of the School of Marxism, and communicated with the young teachers after classes, calling on them to further promote the reform, enhance the pertinence and effectiveness of ideological and political education, and develop ideological and political courses loved by all students and teachers by four integrations: the new era, the new journey, the new youth and the new university, thus giving full play to the leading role of ideological and political courses.
