On October 13, the First Session of Guangdong Province Federation of Thinktanks for Rural Revitalization convened in Guangzhou. Leaders from Guangdong Province Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas (Rural Revitalization Bureau), Guangdong Province Department of Civil Administration and Guangdong Province Federation of Social Sciences attended it and delivered messages.
As one of the nine co-initiators, GZIST President Hu Shejun joined the other leaders in unveiling the plaque of the Federation. Dozens of media organizations covered the event.
On behalf of the co-initiators, President Hu made a speech announcing the aim and goals of the Federation: to capitalize on the advantages and resources for in-depth research on the three key issues of agriculture, rural areas and farmers; to foster first-class thinktanks and submit quality consultancy reports and policy proposals conducted by the Federation’s advisory groups and academic committees.
Among the five university co-initiators, GZIST is the only private institution. The Federation now has over one hundred member organizations.
