At this wonderful moment of bidding farewell to 2023 and hailing the arrival of the New Year, I would like to convey my blessings to our university community, alumni and friends from all walks of life who support us in our educational endeavors at all times.
The past year has been historic for our institution.
It is a year of high quality development. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era, we have studied and implemented the essential documents of the CPC 20th National Congress and participated in the themed education on the Thought, as well as carried out the CPC Guangdong Committee “1310” tasks and the people development cause set by national and provincial conferences on education for higher growth and greater achievements.
It is a year of march forward. Our university has become a support unit for the State Natural Science Foundation and the State Social Science Foundation, having received the second prize for the 11th National Teaching Excellence Awards and a number of other awards from Guangzhou Public Security Bureau and Guangdong Province Department of Education.
It is a year of upgrade for high quality development and of completion of “one university in three districts”. In accordance with the University’s Program for New and High Quality Development (2023-2026), we have enhanced our preparatory work for the Ministry of Education (MoE) Assessment of our undergraduate programs and our joint Masters programs. We have set up three new engineering schools, namely Green Energy Automobile, Information and Electrons, and Modern Aviation.
It is a year of innovation for our three-in-one strategy, integrating education, science and technology, and talents into an organic whole. We have signed cooperative agreements with Guangzhou Automobile Group and BYD for industry-academia-research synergy and increased to six engineering centers, undertaking over 150 projects commissioned by State Foundations, Ministry of Education and Guangdong Province, nba下注平台 than 500 horizontal projects, and securing two First Prizes and three Second Prizes from Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progression. Our university’s 29 new technologies proudly showcased at 25th Shenzhen Hi-Tech Fair and on site we signed with six enterprises valued at 16 million yuan, the event covered by major media such as CCTV News.
It is a year of Huizhou Boluo Campus launch. Ministry of Education approved our campus setup and Guangdong Province Department of Education, its launch. Huizhou City has given us strong support for its construction. We have invested over one billion yuan into this total area of four hundred fifty thousand square meters, of which two hundred thirty thousand square meters have been put into use. nba下注平台 than six thousand undergraduate students of 37 majors from ten provinces in the country have moved into the new campus.
It is a year of teaching reform and people development. We have upheld the “student-centered outcome-based education” principle and amended the 2024 Talents Development Plan. The University has sponsored 40 faculty members and 62 students to undertake research and study programs in universities of Macau, Russia and Singapore. Over 472 leaders and staff have visited institutions from 16 provinces and cities for study, research or training. Our graduates’ employment rate has reached 94% and our students have won 76 awards at national science competitions and 863 awards at ministry or province level discipline contests.
It is a year of comprehensive preparations for Ministry of Education Assessment. We have been constantly improving our campus infrastructure, elevating our quality assurance system, strengthening management, setting goals, plans, incentives and punitive system. We aim to build our university into a first-class application-focused institution which stands firmly in Guangdong, orients towards South China, serves Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area, works with BRI countries, and develops talents who are capable of turning specialized knowledge and skills into performance, innovation and global competences.
Education can shape the new destiny of our students, facilitate them in gaining strengths for serving our society by their own self-sufficiency powers to contribute to our country and the world community.
