（Chen Lu, Huang Feiqing）On April 9, Dr. Timirkhan Alishev, Vice Rector of Kazan Federal University (KFU) Russia, visited Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology (GZIST), signed an MoU on joint research and technology transfer with Chen Hanjun, GZIST Vice President, and unveiled Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology - Kazan Federal University Joint Research and Technology Transfer Center. Present at the signing and unveiling ceremony were Cui Huailin, Director of Research Division, Shi Fengxi, Director Division of University-Industry Partnerships, and Liang Xuehong, Dean School of International Education.
On behalf of GZIST, Vice President Chen Hanjun extended a warm welcome to Vice Rector Alishev. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, as a member of the Russian government delegation, Vice Rector Alishev visited GZIST one day ahead of schedule, which fully demonstrated that KFU attaches great importance to the cooperation between our two countries and the two universities.
Vice Rector Alishev said that KFU is the second oldest university in Russia, and the experience of 20 GZIST faculty members who went to KFU on a training program in January this year represents a good start of substantive cooperation between our two universities. He hoped that the exchange program which will be carried out in September this year and our joint research can achieve great successes.
On behalf of GZIST and KFU, Vice President Chen Hanjun and Vice Rector Alishev jointly unveiled the "Guangzhou Institute of Science and Technology - Kazan Federal University Joint Research and Technology Transfer Center". Afterwards, Vice Rector Alishev visited GZIST’s Guangdong Province Engineering and Technology Research Center for Industrial Robot Integration and Application, observed the advanced engineering equipment and technologies, and learned about the students' competitions in the field of engineering. The engineering strength of GZIST provides strong support for our long-term cooperation on joint research and technology transfer.
In addition to research cooperation, the two universities will also carry out greater levels of cooperation, and explore the undergraduate "3+1" mode programs to enrich the educational experiences for both GZIST and KFU students.
